Cashless Card

The Woordfees is a cashless festival so no cash is accepted at any festival venue or activity. Pay with your debit or credit card or get the Woordfees Card at R10 per card. Load money onto the card (cash, debit, and credit cards are accepted) then go enjoy the festival. Everything from tickets to wine, books and food can be purchased with the card, making transactions more swift than with a credit or debit card. The card can be recharged at any festival bank where any remaining amount can also be removed at the end of the festival. Simply follow the easy steps on the back of the card.

Please make use of the free parking at both Stellenbosch High School and opposite Rhenish High School in Kochstraat. There will be a shuttle service from there to the festival. Remember, Stellenbosch is an old town with narrow streets and limited parking. Therefore please allow enough time to get from one show to the next.

There are toilet facilities close to all festival venues. Please ask festival personnel for directions.

There is a Computicket point-of-sale in the Woordfees office which is located at the Erfurthuis. Tickets can also be purchased online or at any Shoprite or Checkers. If tickets are not sold out, they will be on sale at the door for a slightly higher price.

The ATKV Book Oasis is situated behind the Art Museum and Die Plataan. The entrance is in Ryneveld Street.

Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, water

Stellenbosch can be rather warm in the beginning of March and the sun can be quite intense. Even though there are many trees that provide shade at the festival, we still encourage you to take precaution and drink enough water.

Plan ahead

There are more than 1 000 performances on the program (repeats included). Be sure to plan your visit in advance so you can get the most out of the festival. Remember to make time for socializing. Be brave and attend at least one performance by a young or upcoming artist. Support our festival restaurants, located at the heart of the festival, where affordable meals and refreshments will be available.

No latecomers will be allowed at performances. Please respect artists and other festivalgoers by arriving on time. In other words, please arrive at least 5 minutes before the start of each performance.

Theatre etiquette

Please switch off your phone before the performance starts. We do not take any responsibility for other audience members' reactions should it start ringing during a performance; It’s simply inconsiderate and bad manners.

Go crazy!

Be a friend of the festival and broadcast our good tidings far and wide on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Use the hashtag #Woordfees2017 and spread the word even further by telling your neighbours and colleagues too!

Open-air concerts

Food, drinks, or picnic baskets are not permitted at the open-air concerts. The food stalls and cash bars will cater to all of your needs. Parking, and shuttle transport to the festival, is included with the ticket.

Get all the festival news, reviews, and other information in the festival paper, Ink, that will be sold from Monday to Saturday at all festival venues.
