The SU Woordfees 2017 proudly presents
The inclusion of Coetzenburg as open-air music venue was one of 2016’s highlights. One of the star shows in 2017 promises to be the programme at Coetzenburg including Heuwels Fantasties, Coenie de Villiers, Brandon October, Charl du Plessis and others.
To share the stage with other artists, says Pierre Greeff of Heuwels Fantasties, is a recurring theme that is visible in the group’s history. “Coenie is a guest and co-composer on our second album – and that was released in 2011 already. We became fast friends and he even conducted Hunter’s [Kennedy, Fokofpolisiekar] wedding ceremony.”
Someone else they have worked with before is Janine Neethling, the musical director. “Janine is a brilliant director and we really love her. She’ll also feature on our new album playing keyboard!” he shares.
Differences in the way other music sounds shouldn’t be a problem, he says. “Good music stays good music.” Especially if one can enjoy it under the stars: “There’s nothing better than good music and good weather – in combination … even if it rains there is a vibe of Wellingtons, ponchos and umbrellas with mud and music.”
Heuwels en die Manne & die Big Band Jol will be performed on the 5th of March at 18:30 at Coetzenburg. The production runs for 140 minutes. Tickets are R200 or R150 (R100 for students) beforehand and R220 or R170 (R120 for students) at the gate.
