Anton Kannemeyer’s first solo exhibition in South Africa since 2015. For him 2015 was a watershed year – the year of the #FeesMust Fall uprising and the year in which challenging satire saw its demise on several platforms around the world. Not, as is usually the case from the enclave of the right, but from activists on the left and the formally tolerant liberal arts establish- ment. All in the name of social justice and political correctness. The exhibited works are in conversation with cancel culture, the woke mentality and the lack of humour and self-irony in the ideology currently being taught to young people.
