Sergei Rachmaninoff’s 150th birthday is being celebrated worldwide this year. His piano concertos are always popular and regularly appear on orchestra programmes, despite them being a challenge for any pianist. Schumann, Prins and De Jager build on 2022’s family affair Bach (to a) Blast! with this one-off performance of Rachmaninoff’s Scherzo in D minor, Piano Concerto No. 2 and the Rhapsody on a theme by Paganini.
