Albert de Vos sings blues and folk lyrics that connect with the entries in Hennie Aucamp’s diaries. Aucamp wrote about fear and decay and love for his country, but also about the alienation he experienced being half-African and half-European. As an aesthete, he could see beauty even in death. He loved to wander Cape Town’s streets and parks, where he was sometimes caught in the whirl of fleeting love.
