Vox Balaenae (The voice of the whale, 1971) is a renowned trio for flute, cello and piano by the American composer George Crumb (1929–2022). The work was inspired by the humpback whales’s ‘singing’. The second work is an early trio by Claude Debussy, a composer admired by Crumb.
