The kykNET Silwerskermfees is an esteemed South African and Afrikaans film festival that has nurtured, developed and empowered the local industry for more than 10 years. Alongside the world or South African premieres of the latest feature films, the Silwerskermfees showcases the work of young talent with a diverse series of short films produced with the festival’s financial backing and mentorship. The Woordfees Film Festival is thankful to be able to show 8 short films (emerging filmmakers), 6 “shotgun” shorts (established filmmakers) and 5 short documentaries from the 2024 Silwerskermfees programme.
