Springsteen, Paul Simon, Dylan\u2026 maar waar is die vroue?, wonder jy. Gelukkig het hulle hierdie jaar self tot inkeer gekom.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hierdie jaar gesels Marais, Breytenbach en Painter oor Mitchell. Joni Mitchell. \u201cBaie taai teef,\u201d skerts Lise Swart uit die musiekhoekie. Sy moes wees om in \u2019n totaal manlike geori\u00ebnteerde w\u00eareld te oorleef, vind mens deur die gesprek uit. Soos gewoonlik word die narratief deur liedere en <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">video clips<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ondersteun, en hierdie slag sit Schalk Joubert, Lise Swart, Andries Bezuidenhout en die L<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00e4<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tti-egpaar, Riku en Jackie, reg om te vertolk. Met Rachmaninoff as \u2019n sterk invloed is dit g\u2019n wonder dat sy haarself as \u2019n <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">cut above<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> haar manlike eweknie\u00eb van daai era beskou het nie.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019n Heerlike toevoeging tot die jaar se band is Schalk Joubert, nie net een van ons land se vernaamste <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bass players<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> nie, maar ook \u2019n ongelooflike groot aanhanger van <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jaco Pastorius. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Laasgenoemde was \u2019n geniale, vernuwende baskitaarspeler wat ook Joni Mitchell se musiek destyds na ander vlakke ge-<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">elevate <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">het. Joubert verduidelik en illustreer sommer terstond die gebruik van die sogenaamde <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sus chords<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, oftewel <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">suspended chords<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">wat Mitchell so graag gebruik het<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u2019n Terloopse musieklessie, so tussendeur.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Die <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">band<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> sing deurlopend van Mitchell se grootste treffers \u2013 \u201cBig yellow taxi\u201d, \u201cA case of you\u201d en \u201cNo regrets coyote\u201d.
