For more than three decades, Shany van den Berg’s art has engaged with the formal and symbolic dialogue between the human figure and the natural world. She approaches both still life and figurative compositions with a unified sensitivity to shape and negative space, drawing parallels between the curve of a vessel and the contours of the body. By reimagining the historical genres of still life and the nude, she situates them within a contemporary and deeply personal context.
