This exhibition celebrates the life and work of Maggie Laubser (1886-1973). Laubser and Irma Stern are widely regarded as the artists who introduced Expressionism to South Africa. Laubser, who was strongly influenced by the German Expressionists, had a strong connection with Stellenbosch University from the 1950s and also bequeathed approximately 140 works of art to the university. This is one of the largest collections of her work in public ownership.
