For award-winning composer Hendrik Hofmeyr, the setting of poetry to music has been a life-long passion: “Music has the magical ability to illuminate words with atmosphere, emotion and symbolic meaning — to bring home to us that which lies beyond and behind the text.” Two of South Africa’s top musicians present a selection of his Afrikaans poems set to music, for which he received an award for creative innovation from the KKNK.
