Between tall office blocks in a big city, stands the Diva – once a glamorous theatre, now a tragic shadow of its former self. In the dressing room, an old chanteuse sits in front of the mirror. Beatrice le Seur (once Bets le Roux of Fordsburg) remembers the old days and the glory of a time when people still dressed up for the theatre. Times may have changed and the Diva is up for sale, but as long as she can remember her words, Beatrice will sing. With nostalgia, compassion and humour, Strydom weaves a beautiful tale about the passing of time and the value of what we remember.
