From Cape Town to Leipzig opens with Allan Stephenson’s colourful and cheeky work for bassoon and strings that showcases his listener-friendly approach to composition best. Mozart’s seldom-heard quintet for French horn and strings will follow and the final work from Leipzig, Mendelssohn’s gem of a piano sextet, will feature pianist Esthea Kruger in some effervescent and virtuoso piano playing with colleagues from the CPO.

With Simon Ball (bassoon), Rebekah Beelders, Philip Martens (violin), Micaela Arries, Petrus Coetzee (viola), Matthias Ender (cello), Roxane Stefen (double bass)

Presented by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra
