Apart from differences in taste, there have been many arguments about the concept of what makes art, let alone what makes good art. The friendship of three long-time friends – Serge, Marc and Yvan – is tested to the limit when Serge buys a large, expensive painting. Differing opinions about Serge’s copy soon extend far beyond a mere value judgment on art. Yasmina Reza, one of the most celebrated contemporary French playwrights, delivers a razor-sharp observation on art. Art is one of the most successful comedies in contemporary theatre. It has been translated into 20 languages and awarded numerous honours, including both Olivier and Tony awards. This production garnered five Kanna awards, including best production, best ensemble, best design and a best actor.
