2018 | South Africa
In a racially-charged 1950’s rural South-Africa, a liberal journalist recounts the captivating pursuit of a flamboyant, native “Robin Hood”, painting a portrait of a divisive outlaw – hunted by the Republic, elusive even to his loved ones, whilst remaining a champion to the disenchanted. With John Kepe’s very existence representing a threat to the inevitable march of colonial displacement, the hunt to capture and kill the outlaw reaches a desperate crescendo, and his mythological status as a hero and symbol of resistance is cemented forever.
