Strauss & Co: Masterclass on Irma Stern

Dr Alastair Meredith, renowned art historian and Head of the Strauss & Co Art Department, presents a Masterclass on South African modernist artists.The talk will focus on Irma Stern, coinciding with the exhibition Irma Stern: A Modern Artist Between Berlin and Cape Town at the Brücke-Museum in Berlin and Strauss & Co’s parallel exhibition, which celebrates Stern’s legacy, featuring major works from important local and international collections. Stern, known for her extensive travels across Africa and Europe, remains one of the most significant early 20th century artists who produced a complex body of work that continues to resonate with and challenge audiences today.
