Louis Mhlanga is a guitarist, composer, producer and songwriter whose playing has become legendary in its own right. His unmistakable guitar style draws from African rhythms, jazz, blues, rock, rumba, funk and traditional musical forms, creating a sound that is both deeply rooted and completely his own. Over a career spanning more than five decades, Mhlanga has shared stages and studios with some of Africa’s most influential musicians, including Oliver Mtukudzi, Thomas Mapfumo and King Sunny Adé, while his work with the global Playing for Change project has taken his music around the world. This is not simply a guitar performance. It is a meeting point of African musical traditions, world music, improvisation and rhythm, led by one of the continent’s most respected and influential guitarists. For this special one-off Daisy Jones show, Louis brings his full band for an evening of music that promises to be as soulful as it is electrifying.
