Breyten Breytenbach’s Boklied was first staged in 1998, and directed by Marthinus Basson. At the time, it was widely praised and highly controversial. Basson now revisits this masterful work with a new generation of performers and De Klerk Oelofse in the lead role. A worthy tribute to Breytenbach, who passed away in 2024. Basson and the cast share their insights on this complex work.
