Artwashing Juxtaposed

Artists and creative spaces are one of the driving forces behind gentrification, a process sometimes also referred to as artwashing. However, art can also play a positive role. The documentary Artwashing Juxtaposed: Raising Awareness of Gentrification in the Historical VIllages of Stellenbosch explores this talking point through the works of Strijdom van der Merwe and art and drama students at Stellenbosch University.
