A few days after his 90th birthday, an Emeritus Professor is overwhelmed by life. His computer, phone, and everything else would not work, everything just became too much. ge-gebergtes is an attempt to make sense of his confrontation with technology. From growing old to being old: a state of gradual decline and increasing helplessness and dependence. The deterioration of physical and cognitive abilities for all to witness. Children who are far away. The world that is speeding along on a different trajectory. And you are waiting. Van der Walt received a Kanna award for her role in ge-gebergtes.
