Given the complexity and variability of breast cancer, traditional one-size-fits-all treatment approaches are often insufficient. Engela Duvenage, well-known science journalist and author, explores “precision medicine” as a promising approach that can significantly improve patient prognosis and care by tailoring prevention and treatment strategies based on individual genetic, pathology, environmental, and lifestyle factors. Having survived three different cancers, a survivor will share her lived experience of this approach.

Science Café Stellenbosch is an initiative of the Faculty of Science at Stellenbosch University. Entrance is free.
