The Kaappunters are an irrepressible rock group born from the love of making music. The music makers are from the ranks of Die Wasgoedlyn, Jackie and Riku Lätti and Churchil Naudé, together with stalwarts of the Voëlvry days, Tonia and Willem Möller, and Jannie Hanepoot van Tonder from the Reformed Blues Band and original igniter of Wasgoedlyn. A programme consisting of a signature blend of standard jazz, Cape Jazz, and originals. The Maties Jazz Society, founded by Ramon Alexander in 2022, is a loose collective of present and past jazz students and enthusiasts at the Stellenbosch University Music Department. Alexander is considered a leading exponent of the South African sub-genre of Cape Jazz. He has established himself as a jazz pianist, bandleader and composer, and has performed at various jazz and music festivals around the world

NEIL SANDILANDS
Popular singer-songwriter-actor Neil Sandilands released his second album earlier this year, Allegaarkie vir ’n askeet. He recorded it with top musicians, including Schalk Joubert and Albert Frost. “His stories of love and politics and their absurdities are irrevocably in character and unmistakably South African in sound,” writes Daniel Luckhoff Wessels. It was Neil’s first performance as a singer at the Woordfees and he couldn’t wait to share his stories and songs from the long journey home with an audience.

Worldplay sessions is a gameshow-esque performance in which poets and musicians collaborate spontaneously in front of a live audience. Some of South Africa’s most diverse poets take turns to set words and hearts on fire, synthesising with innovative musicians and sound designers in real time. It promises a spellbinding experience, providing an exciting glimpse into the South African psyche.
