The Woordfees will take place in the Spring from 28 September to 6 October.
The festival organisers are excited to announce the dates for the festival and, along with festival goers, are looking forward to another year of exceptional applications from artists.
Saartjie Botha, the Director of the Woordfees, remarked on the high quality of the works that were offered at the 2023 festival. “Covid was a huge disruption for the performing arts, but it also gave artists the opportunity to reflect on their artistry and the nature of the works with which they wish to engage. Artists have plumbed great depths in their search for works that entertain, enrich and comfort our audiences. We believe that 2024 will see this trend expand and continue.”
Applications
Applications for the 2024 Woordfees close on 22 April, 2024.
We look forward to receiving applications that are innovative and affordable, and that embrace the full demographic of the Western Cape. Preference will be given to works that do not depend on large technical infrastructures and sets. The festival theme and programme will be announced over the coming weeks and months.
