On behalf of Toyota South Africa Motors, I would like to say we are both honoured and thrilled to be part of the 2022 Toyota SU Woordfees arts festival. As a brand that is deeply entrenched in South African culture and local communities, we’ve been encouraged by the positive feedback generated by our association with Woordfees. The first event was a resounding success – not just for the festival organisers, but for us partners as well. Toyota is therefore immensely proud of this partnership.
Now for some exciting news … You have all heard or read about the situation at our facility in Durban: we suffered extensive damage to the plant, which hampered availability of our locally produced models such as Hilux, Fortuner, Hiace, Corolla Cross and Quest. However, we are pleased to announce that we have resumed our operations. In fact, we have been operating at full capacity since September.
Despite these challenges, we believe in the resilience of the Toyota brand. While this may be the worst disaster to befall Toyota South Africa, most would remember that we’ve had some serious setbacks in recent history – including the devastating floods in 2017. I’d like to assure you that Team Toyota is working hard to recover – as soon as possible – and we will come back even stronger.
In fact, it’s also even more encouraging to see how the entertainment industry is bouncing back to life after it suffered for dozens of months due to Covid-19. On that note, this year’s Woordfees promises more fireworks and excitement compared to last year. And we would like to wish everyone an amazing time at Toyota SU Woordfees! As per this year’s theme, pretend you are the Dakar Hilux – get wild and enjoy!
